About Us

Our Aim

  • Ensure that the welfare of each individual child in our care is paramount and forms the basis of our practice
  • Promote the way in which children learn through play and first-hand experiences and arrange the setting environment to meet this.
  • Enable children to develop confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
  • Plan for and develop the individual needs of each child in our care via the key person system and careful adult support and facilitation.
  • Always recognise that parents and carers are the first and most enduring educators of their child.
  • Create a warm, welcoming and safe environment for all individuals who use our setting.
  • Ensure that all individuals, children and adults alike, can enjoy the setting environment without judgment or discrimination from others.
  • Accommodate the individual needs of all who access our setting, irrespective of ethnic heritage, social and economic background, gender, sexual orientation, ability or disability.
  • Listen to the views of all who use our setting; children, parents, employees and other professionals
  • Continually reflect upon practice, as a setting and as individuals to ensure continual improvement of provision

Important Information for Parents

The Key Person

Your child will be allocated a Key Person on commencing Twinkletoes. This staff member will support your child as they settle in to Pre-school and aid their development throughout their time with us.

They will work closely with you to help your child feel confident and secure within the group. They will ensure your child is able to work at their own pace and complete development milestones.

We value the importance of the Parent/Carer input in informing Key Person's about their child's preferences, interests and needs. Initially, we ask that you complete a questionnaire, to help get to know your child. Throughout your child's time with us, their Key Person will record their observations and photographs.

We also provide 'WOW' moment slips on which you can write your child's exciting news and achievements.

Twinkletoes Preschool supports the inclusion of all children in achieving their full potential. We aim to encourage this through close observation and planning activities using Babys days as our guide to follow the child's next steps and also through their interests.

Should your child require additional support, their Key Person will tailor this support and work closely with you as Parents/Carers as well our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCo). Our SENCo ensures staff work within the guidelines of the Special educational needs and disability code of practice and where appropriate, liaise with local authority Special Educational Needs Advisors.

Baby’s Days

Baby’s Days is a fantastic tool to allow complete transparency between the setting and parent/carer.

Twinkletoes uses Baby’s Days as our online learning system, this allows us to form a partnership with parents simply and effectively.

When a parent connects to our system you are able to view numerous areas of the system these include; Daily Notes, Progress trackers, Photograph Galleries, Policies, Permissions and Invoices etc.

Within the Daily Notes, they can read their child's daily activities and leave comments for us to read and respond to.

Within the Progress section you can read Progress and Observation notes, view photographs and see exactly what development level your child is currently at.

Uniform

In order to feel free to explore and experiment with all kinds of resources, including messy play, we have a Twinkletoes uniform. This can be bought at a non-profit cost. Whilst our uniform is non-compulsory, the children tell us they enjoy wearing it and we feel it gives them a sense of belonging.

We request that shoes such as lightweight trainers with Velcro straps are worn at all times in the hall. Please clearly label all clothing with your child's name, particularly if wearing our uniform.

You can purchase our uniform from our local business contact Natalie Mark at www.needlzandthreadz.co.uk
